Wildlife Commissions

Have you ever felt strangely connected to a particular animal?

Maybe it's an animal you've loved since you were little. Maybe you've had an experience with one that's stayed with you. Or maybe there's just something about them that you recognise in yourself

Whatever the reason, I'd love to hear about it.

I'm opening a limited number of wildlife commission spaces in 2027, and my waitlist will be the first to know when bookings become available

The story behind the painting

more than just an animal

Something I've always been fascinated by is how much of ourselves we can see in animals.

The relationships they have, the way they care for their young, their personalities, their strength, their vulnerability. So much of what we consider to be uniquely human, juat.. isn't

It's something I explore constantly through my own paintings, and something I'd love to bring into my commission work.

I don't just want to know which animal you'd like me to paint.

I'd love to know why

Is there a particular animal you've always felt drawn to? Does it remind you of someone? Is there a memory, an experience or a story behind that connection?

Or maybe you just absolutely love tigers and have always wanted an enormous one hanging in your living room bc that's a perfectly good reason too 😂

The point is, I want to create something that means something to you.

Something that feels personal, and that you'll still love looking at in 20 years.

From idea to original

How it works

01 · Join the waitlist+

Pop your details into the form below and tell me a little about the animal you're interested in.

You don't need to have a fully formed idea or know exactly what you want yet.

The waitlist is simply a way for me to contact you when commission spaces become available.

02 · Commission spaces open+

I'll be opening a limited number of spaces at a time, beginning in 2027.

I'm planning to release just five commission spaces in my first round.

Everyone on the waitlist will be notified first, with information on how to secure a booking.

A $250 AUD deposit will be required to reserve your commission space.

03 · Let's talk about your painting+

Once your commission is confirmed, we'll work through your ideas together.

We'll talk about the animal you've chosen, why it's important to you, the size of the painting and the overall feeling you'd like it to have.

I'll source or review suitable reference photographs and work on preliminary sketches to establish the composition.

I'll draw up a preliminary sketch either digitally or traditionally for you to approve

04 · I'll get painting!+

Once we've agreed on the direction, I'll get started on your original oil painting.

I'll share progress updates along the way so you can see your piece coming together.

Every painting is created by hand in my studio, and I want to give each one the time and attention it deserves.

For that reason you'll be given a commission calendar slot, when your slot time rolls around your painting will be completed within 4-6 weeks.

please note: after your painting is complete, it will need another 3-4 weeks time to cure before being varnished and shipped to you.

05 · Your painting comes home+

Once your painting is finished, sufficiently dry and the final payment has been made, it'll be carefully prepared for delivery.

Whether you're around the corner in Melbourne or on the other side of the world, I'll make sure we discuss the delivery arrangements before your commission begins.

And then it's yours!! 🥹

Commission sizes & pricing

Every commission is an original oil painting, created specifically for you. I've put together a few standard sizes to make pricing as straightforward as possible, but if you have something different in mind, we can absolutely discuss custom dimensions.

Getting it home

Delivery & shipping

I'm based in Cheltenham, Melbourne, but I'm very happy to create paintings for collectors all over the world.

Melbourne · Local delivery+

If you're within 20km of Cheltenham, Melbourne, I'm happy to personally deliver your finished painting. A personal delivery fee of $50AUD will apply.

Australia-wide shipping+

For collectors elsewhere in Australia, your painting will be carefully packaged and shipped.

Shipping will be quoted individually depending on the size of your artwork and your location.

International collectors+

All international original paintings will be shipped on unstretched canvas, carefully rolled for transport.

This means your artwork will need to be taken to a professional framer to be stretched onto stretcher bars once it arrives.

Please factor the cost of professional stretching and framing into your budget, as these services aren't included in your commission price.

International shipping will be quoted separately, and any applicable import duties or taxes will be the responsibility of the collector.

I'll explain the process before you book so you know exactly what to expect.

The finer details

A few things you might be wondering

Can I commission any animal?+

As long as it's wildlife, absolutely!

Big cats will always have a special place in my heart, but I'm happy to explore other wildlife subjects too. If there's an animal you're particularly connected to, I'd love to hear about it.

I don't currently offer domestic pet portraits.

Do I need to know exactly what I want?+

Not at all. You might know the exact animal, pose and size you're after, or you might just have an animal in mind and want to figure out the rest together. Either is completely fine.

Can I supply my own reference photos?+

Absolutely, provided you own the photographs or have permission for them to be used as painting references.

I'm also happy to help source suitable reference imagery.

please note: low quality images may be rejected
Can I request changes?+

Absolutely! I want you to love your painting, which is why we'll work through the concept and preliminary sketches together before I begin.

Your commission includes one round of sketch revisions, so you'll have the opportunity to request any reasonable changes to the composition before giving me the go-ahead.

Additional sketch revisions are $75 per round.

Once you've approved the sketch and I've started painting, major changes to the composition, subject or overall direction aren't included in your commission price.

I'm always happy to discuss minor adjustments where possible, but any substantial changes will need to be quoted separately and may affect the completion timeframe.

I also ask that you trust me with a little creative freedom! You're commissioning me for my interpretation and artistic style, and that's part of what makes your painting one of a kind.

How long will it take?+

Every painting is different, and larger or more complex pieces naturally take longer. Oil paintings also need sufficient drying time before they can be safely packed and transported.

Once we reach your commission calendar slot, you can expect your painting delivered to your door within 8 weeks

Do you offer payment plans?+

Yes! A $250 deposit is required to secure your commission space, and I'm happy to arrange a payment plan for the remaining balance.

Your painting will need to be paid for in full before it's delivered or shipped.

Is my deposit refundable?+

A $250 AUD deposit is required to secure your commission space, and this amount goes towards the total cost of your painting.

If you need to cancel before I've started any work on your commission, please get in touch and I'll arrange a refund.

Once I've started working on your commission, including reference preparation or preliminary sketches, cancellation may mean that some or all of your deposit is retained to cover the time and costs already involved.

If you need to cancel after painting has begun, any additional work completed or costs incurred will be assessed individually.

Of course, if I'm unable to complete your commission, I'll arrange an appropriate refund.

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law always apply.

Can I commission a painting as a gift?+

Of course! I think there's something really special about commissioning an artwork for someone based on an animal they love or a story that's important to them.

If you have a particular date in mind, please mention it when you enquire so we can discuss whether the timeframe is possible.

Will you share my painting online?+

I love sharing the process behind my paintings, and I think the stories behind these commissions could be really special to share too.

But I completely understand that some stories are personal. I'll always discuss what you're comfortable with before sharing any personal details about your commission.

2027 commission openings

I'd love to hear your story.

If there's an animal you've always felt connected to, this is your chance to tell me about it.

It doesn't need to be a big, profound story. Sometimes we just love what we love, and that's enough.

I'm opening a small number of commission spaces in 2027, and everyone on the waitlist will be the first to hear when bookings open.

Joining the waitlist is free and doesn't commit you to purchasing anything.

It's genuinely such a special thing to have someone invite you to create a piece of art for their home.

And I love that these commissions will give me the opportunity to learn about the animals that mean something to you, and the stories behind those connections.

I can't wait to hear them.
